Born in Harrogate, Hugh Miller is a Yorkshire-based artist who uses the landscape of the Swinton Estate as the inspiration for many of his pieces. Hugh is a graduate of Chelsea College of Art and Design and was tutored by Turner prize-winner Chris Ofili.
Miller’s style is highly textured with thick oil paint, where the works can take up to a year to create. The technique of layering thick applications of paint over each other creates a unique ‘sculptural’ three-dimensional experience. His paintings are sold around the world, including commercial and domestic spaces in many countries, including Australia, America, and Singapore.
Hugh’s studio and gallery are located on the Swinton Estate, and he is often to be found painting one of his uniquely beautiful canvases amidst the glorious Swinton countryside.
