Father’s Day on the Swinton Estate

The Cookery School runs a busy program of half day and full day hands-on, practical cookery classes throughout the year. From classic baking and Sunday roasts to sushi and Thai, there’s a course to suit everyone. 

Whether you have tried wild swimming before or not, we highly recommend you give it a go. Swimming ‘wild’ is incredibly beneficial to your wellbeing; both physically and mentally. Benefits can include; reduced muscle soreness, reduction in inflammation, immune system boosting, improved circulation and there is also claims it boosts brain power! 

Laser Clays are great fun – either just to have a go and see if you have ‘an eye’, or as an introduction to traditional clay shooting! You’ll be holding a deactivated and high-tech version of a shotgun, firing invisible infrared beams onto clay targets launched at different angles and speeds. The scoreboard will tell us who was bang on, and who was off-beam – designed for a little friendly competition! 

The Northern Fishing School at Swinton Estate organises guided days or courses on the Estate waters. On a day’s fishing, you will be able to access waters on the Estate that are otherwise closed to the public, such as the River Burn and upper stretch of the Ure. 

Swinton Estate has an abundance of walking routes, from riverside strolls to bracing hikes across the moors. There are over 63 miles of public footpaths along with numerous permissive trails.
