Great British Game Week 2025

A celebration of all that is great about game

This year Swinton Estate is delighted to be building on the popularity of our previous food-focused Game Weeks by creating a celebration of country living and the people, partners and knowledge that make the Swinton Estate such a special place.

Whilst our fantastic game-themed menus remain central to the theme of the week, there is also a host of additional activities for guests and visitors alike to enjoy this year. Some of the additional activities are chargeable, some are complimentary when you book accommodation with us, and we are also offering day tickets on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th November for non-residents to enjoy a day of interesting content and demonstrations, as well as a delicious lunch in The Terrace Restaurant & Bar.

Read on for more details of all the fantastic activities taking place throughout the week as we celebrate the best of the British countryside.

Dining Events

Our Estate to Plate philosophy sits at the heart of our approach to dining and Game Week allows us to showcase the very best produce, much of which is sourced from across the Estate, in all of our outlets.

You may want to celebrate in style by joining us in Samuel’s Restaurant for one of the Gala Lunches that bookend the week, or fancy brushing up your cooking skills with one of Game inspired Cookery School courses? Alternatively causal dining is available all week in The Terrace Restaurant and Bar and Josh Barnes will be cooking up something very special on the Chef’s Table where you will enjoy an intimate drinks reception and canapes before feasting on an incredible eight-course tasting menu.

To book any of these dining experiences, click the relevant card below.

Activities and Demonstrations

Whilst the days may be getting shorter at this time of year, that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of activities to enjoy across the Estate. Please note that spaces are limited on some of the activities so we do recommend early booking.

To enhance your visit the following activities will be available to book:

Monday 3rd November

In the afternoon, take an escorted walk around our Deer Park with our deer ranger as he talks to you about the herd and their lives on the Estate.

Between 11am and 4pm, a pop-up shop will be available featuring four independent Yorkshire designers who will showcase their products. Meet the makers of these bespoke items, from hand-crafted silver jewellery, to beautiful headpieces and baubles made from feathers.

Tuesday 4th November

The second day of Game Week plays host to our Corporate Charity Activity Day in conjunction with our on-site activity partner Live for Today. We are looking for eight teams of five people to try their hand at a variety of activities both indoors and out. Included in the team participation fee, is a two-course lunch in The Terrace Restaurant and Bar and all whilst raising money for our local charity – Herriot Hospice. To enquire about entering a team, please fill out the enquiry form below.

Wednesday 5th November

Begin with a Birds of Prey demonstration at 9.30am followed by a Gun Dog demonstration on the lawn. Game-inspired menus are available all week in The Terrace Restaurant & Bar.

Day Tickets are available at £75 per person on this day offering you access to the Birds of Prey and Gun Dog demonstrations as well as access to the Estate Gardens for the day, and a two course lunch in The Terrace Restaurant & Bar.

You half-day experience will include tea, coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, 80 cartridges and clays, tuition, mid-morning refreshments and then a two-course lunch back at the hotel. Why not enjoy a visit to our new winter light trail – Luminescence – which is open to the public for the first time at 4pm this date.

Friday 7th November

After a hearty breakfast in Samuel’s Restaurant, there is the opportunity to enjoy a Bird of Prey display at the aviary.  You can explore the Parkland and Gardens at  your leisure before enjoying our complimentary whisky tasting in the afternoon, and our Yorkshire designers are back in the afternoon with another pop-up shop between 3pm and 6pm. No booking required. Again, Luminescence tickets are available once darkness falls. Day tickets are available at £75 per person on this day including the Birds of Prey, two-course lunch in The Terrace Restaurant & Bar, and then entrance to Luminescence – our very own winter light trail around the hotel gardens.
