Painting with Pastels: Our Feathered Friends

Join artist Sue Orrey-Godden for a workshop in painting wildlife, among the beautiful the gardens of Swinton Park Hotel.

You will learn how to create wildlife and bird paintings with texture, colour and softness. As Sue explains some of her techniques, you will look at composition, drawing and methods for creating paintings of birds that show their feathers with depth of colour and texture.

The workshop also includes a two-course meal in the Terrace Restaurant and Bar, along with arrival tea/coffee/biscuits.

Local artist, Sue Orrey-Godden, has been painting in soft pastel for more than 30 years and loves their versatility and vibrancy. Known for her skills capturing wildlife and animals in soft pastel, Sue has developed her own style of working and aims to use colour to bring light and shade and a sense of warmth to her pastel paintings.

What to bring?

Please bring a sketch book together with any soft pastels you may have. Please dress for the weather and ensure you’ll be warm outdoors.
