Hannah Newsome has built an impressive career at Swinton Estate, playing a key role in driving both commercial success and a positive team culture within the hotel’s spa operations.
Having joined in a part-time position in 2017, Newsome progressed through every level of the spa and now leads a large team, with responsibility for its day-to-day operations, guest experience and overall performance.
Over the past year, she has helped shape the continued success of the spa through a combination of strategic planning, operational improvements and a strong focus on guest satisfaction. By refining booking processes and introducing new ways of working, she has enhanced both efficiency and the overall customer experience.
She also led the introduction of OSKIA as the spa’s product partner, carefully selecting a brand that complements the spa’s sustainable, British-focused ethos and further strengthens its treatment offering.
Newsome has taken a proactive approach to improving operational effectiveness, reviewing processes across the department and implementing practical changes to support long-term sustainability. Her work has included improvements to stock management, laundry operations and resource conservation, helping the spa operate more efficiently while maintaining high service standards.
As a member of the hotel’s sustainability team, she has contributed to a range of environmental initiatives, including water conservation projects, more efficient laundry scheduling, enhanced locker organisation and stronger stock control procedures.
Her leadership style combines hands-on support with clear communication and a commitment to professional development. Through improved team engagement, regular one-to-one meetings and thoughtful workforce planning, she has fostered a positive working environment and supported the progression of several team members into more senior roles.
Alongside her operational responsibilities, Newsome actively supports the future of the industry by working with local colleges.
