Set within the 17-acre wooded gardens of Swinton Park Hotel, Luminescence will transform the historic estate into an immersive after-dark experience. A mile-long trail of imaginative light installations will lead visitors through a series of otherworldly realms, elemental landscapes and fantastical worlds, bringing the gardens to life under the moonlight.
Visitors can travel through a series of captivating scenes, each designed to transport them into a different setting and promise moments of discovery around every corner. From the glowing Under the Sea to a magical Birdcage Walk, where guests can wander amongst 100 illuminated birdcages accompanied by birdsong, to Swinton’s very own Hollywood, where guests can walk amongst the stars at A Night at the Oscars, complete with chandeliers and paparazzi.
Families can also discover playful installations and interactive moments along the way, with opportunities to Make a Wish at the illuminated wishing tree, discover the End of the Rainbow or explore a magical Pixie Den and the glowing Space Odyssey. The journey concludes amongst a sanctuary of illuminated deer nestled within the trees, bringing Luminescence to a magical close and providing one final glimpse of the estate transformed by light.
Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, the co-owner of Swinton Estate and the architect behind the Luminesce Trail said ‘we are delighted to bring back Luminescence, our winter light trail for a second year. We welcomed over 8000 guests during our first season so we hope to be discovered by even more guests this winter, and the new installations will make the trail interesting and fun for returning guests too.
Designed for visitors of all ages, Luminescence offers a magical way to brighten the darker winter evenings, whether visiting with family, friends or four-legged companions, with dogs also welcome along the trail.
Guests can make a full evening of their visit with warming drinks and seasonal treats or extend their stay with one of Swinton’s dining experiences – from a quintessential English afternoon tea to a traditional Yorkshire Sunday lunch at Samuel’s, enjoyed before or after the trail.
