Swinton Estate has an abundance of walking routes, from riverside strolls to bracing hikes across the moors. There are over 63 miles of public footpaths along with numerous permissive trails.
In association with AllTrails guides, we have six illustrated Estate walks available to download from their app or website (as well as four further walks within the parkland), with walking routes available by kind permission of Swinton Estate.
From the Country Club & Spa at Swinton, there are two woodland and riverside loop walks. There is also the Country Club & Spa to Swinton Bivouac route (one way or loop) which heads through the Parkland up to the edge of the moors. The Country Club & Spa has parking, The Terrace Coffee Shop and Restaurant (also dog friendly) and accommodation at the Swinton Park hotel or High Swinton holiday cottage.
Two of these start and finish at Swinton Bivouac, taking in the stunning landscape of the moors and the intriguing Druid’s Temple in the woodland. There is parking (£3 per car charge) and the dog friendly Cafe Barn for refreshments (there are Yurts and Tree Lodges for those wanting to stay in the area). There is also the downhill Swinton Bivouac to Swinton Country Club & Spa route which can be walked one way or as a loop walk. Please note, the final part of this walk into Swinton Park’s parkland and gardens is through a coded gate. Entrance to the parkland and gardens requires a ‘Day Visitor’ pass, which can be obtained by calling 01765 680 900 to pay over the phone, or by visiting the Estate Shop at Swinton Country Club & Spa before parking at Swinton Bivouac. The ‘Day Pass’ provides access across the Estate, including parking at the Bivouac.
