Become a true French chef!

Explore a variety of traditional and modern French dishes. Learn the variety within the five mother sauces of French cuisine alongside techniques used amongst some of the current French chefs.

All of our courses are delivered by our resident master chef. The classes take place in our stunning country kitchen with breathtaking views of the Swinton Estate grounds and the Yorkshire Dales.

We always encourage a hands on approach within the classes and all ingredients and equipment will be provided.

Half day recipes may include: Rainbow Trout with Beurre Blanc, Passionfruit Soufflé, French Onion Soup with Gruyere Cheese, Lemon Madeline’s, Duck Confit with Puy Lentils

  • Artisanal bread making and shaping
  • Using different kinds of meat to make pate, variations of flavourings
  • Techniques around making a traditional bisque, for example flambéing.
  • Understanding the technique of confit and its effect on meat
  • Lining a sweet pastry case and making an frangipane
  • The techniques required to make a soufflé

FAQs

Most half-day cookery courses start at 10:00am and finish around 1:30pm. Full-day courses start at at 10:00am and finish around 3:00pm. Please arrive at the Swinton Park Hotel reception for tea and coffee served from 9:30am. 

For children's courses, Mini Chefs takes place between 10:00am and 3:00pm. The Junior chefs course is between 2:00pm and 4:30pm.  

During half-day and full-day courses, lunch will be served consisting of dishes you've prepared during the event. Should you have any special dietary requirements or allergies please let us know so that we can ensure these are accommodated.

All required ingredients and equipment will be provided as part of your course. You don't need to bring anything extra - just yourself. 

Yes! When you finish the course, you'll receive a copy of all the recipes you learned to use at home.
